The top two extended the gap between themselves and the chasing pack with wins in the weekend’s NPL Queensland Women’s Round 12 action.

Lions maintained their position at the top of standings with a 3-1 win over Peninsula Power at Luxury Paints Stadium on Saturday night.

Tegan Riding netted a hat-trick to move top of the league’s top scorers charts with 16 goals before Bonnie Davies, who sits equal second on that list netted a late consolation for Power for what was her 13^th goal of the season.

Second placed Eastern Suburbs remain just two points behind the league leaders following at 2-1 away win over Sunshine Coast Wanderers at Ballinger Park on Sunday evening.

Goals from Lauren Askin and an 84^th minute Emma Star winner secured the points for Lachlan Leong’s side while Chelsea Scarff was on target for the Wanderers.

Souths United got the better of Gold Coast United with a 2-1 win at Wakerley Park on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Jess Watkins and Kylie Vecchio sealed victory for Souths, who climb to sixth on the league table with Sunday’s win.

Fifth placed Mitchelton reduced the gap between themselves and Gold Coast United to eight points with a last gasp 2-1 win over Capalaba at Max Haynes Field on Saturday evening.

The home side took the lead via a Brittney Lacek penalty in the 57^th minute before Kayo Yammamuro equalised with a header after Georgia Gibson’s initial effort came crashing back off the crossbar in the 87^th minute.

Gibson then popped up with the winner when she found the bottom corner with a strike from edge of the area in the 89^th minute to seal all three points for the visitors.

Olympic picked up their second win of the 2023 NPL Queensland season with a 1-0 triumph over QAS at Meakin Park on Sunday evening.

Ana Tormena scored the games only goal in the 77^th minute when she rifled a first-time strike into the top corner from the top of the box.

While Olympic still remain bottom of the ladder despite Sunday’s victory they move to within two points of eighth placed Wanderers in the fight to avoid relegation.
