The status quo continued to set the standard at the top of the NPL Queensland Women’s standings with Gold Coast United and Lions increasing the gap between themselves and the chasing pack following the weekend’s Round 5 action.

Gold Coast United 2-1 Eastern Suburbs
League leaders Gold Coast United continued their perfect start with a last-gasp 2-1 win over Eastern Suburbs at Coplicks on Saturday afternoon.
Easts who started the weekend in third position after ending Lions 61 game unbeaten run in their last outing took a 13th-minute lead through a Maya Brueckner header before Momo Hayashi replied with a header of her own to send the sides in level at the break.
The sides looked set to settle for a share of the spoils before Astia Neckebroeck found the back of the net with a stunning long-range effort in the 88th minute to secure all three points for United.
Lions FC 9-0 Capalaba FC
After having their two-year unbeaten run ended last week Lions bounced back in emphatic fashion with a 9-0 win over Capalaba at Luxury Paints Stadium on Saturday night.
Tegan Riding found the back of the net four times, Tia Appoo chipped in with a brace while Teagan Thompson, Macey Edward and Amy Gunston were also on target as the defending Champions kept themselves within touching distance of the league leaders.
Mitchelton 0-1 Souths United
Souths United moved to within a point of the top four thanks to a 1-0 win over Mitchelton at Teralba Park on Saturday night.
Sunny Franco scored the only goal of the game, finding the bottom corner with a deft finish in the 70th minute as United grabbed their second win of the season.
Sunshine Coast Wanderers 1-1 QAS
Sunshine Coast Wanderers picked up their second point of the season with a 1-1 draw against QAS at Ballinger Park on Saturday afternoon.
QAS took the lead in the 35th minute through a Georgia Dean penalty but the home side clawed their way back into the contest and found an equaliser through Marli Danger, who reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the penalty area on the stroke of half time.
Peninsula Power P-P Olympic FC
Sunday’s match between Peninsula Power and Olympic was postponed as a result of the wet weather that drenched Queensland across the weekend and has been scheduled to be replayed on Wednesday night.
