Three of last season's top four remain winless after two rounds following another weekend of enthralling NPL Queensland Men’s action.
Check out all the action below!
Moreton Bay 2-0 Rochedale Rovers
Moreton Bay United made it two wins from two and moved to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Rochedale on Sunday afternoon.
Marquez Walters opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a sublime strike from distance before converting from the penalty spot midway through the first half to round out the 2-0 scoreline.
Peninsula Power 0-2 Brisbane City
The Jets are joined at the top of the table by Brisbane City, who are the only other side to have taken maximum points so far.
City kept a second straight clean sheet as they defeated Peninsula Power 2-0 thanks to first-half goals from Jheison Macuace and Matt Thurtell.
Macuace got in behind the defence and chipped the keeper to open his goalscoring account in City colours before Thurtell capitalized on a defensive error to grab his second goal in as many games.
Eastern Suburbs 0-1 Gold Coast Knights
Defending Champions Gold Coast Knights picked up their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Eastern Suburbs on Saturday afternoon.
Max Brown came off the bench to score the game’s only goal in the 57th minute - sliding in to poke home a Kristian Brymora cross and seal Knights first win at Heath Park in three years.
Gold Coast United 0-0 Brisbane Roar Youth
Knights cross-town rivals, Gold Coast United were held to a 0-0 draw by Young Roar in their first home match of the 2023 season.
Redlands United 2-0 Olympic FC
At Compass Grounds, newly promoted Redlands United caused the shock of the weekend defeating Olympic 2-0 through goals from Peter Klaassen and Guilherme Santana.
Sunshine Coast Wanderers 1-1 Lions FC
A 95th minute Jesse Rigby goal saw Lions snatch a point at the death against Sunshine Coast Wanderers at Ballinger Park on Saturday night.
The hosts looked set to come away with all three points after Kyan Van Der Harst-Bryant’s 78th minute volley but Rigby popped in stoppage time to rifle and effort into the top corner and seal a share of the spoils for the defending Premiers.
